October Hiring Report
The October Monthly Hiring Report has arrived. As expected after effects from Hurricanes Irma and Harvey, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports a job change of (-33,000) for September. Unemployment is a 4.2%, slightly lower than the previous month. Majority job declines were in leisure and hospitality (-111,000), and information (-9,000). Job gains were led by education and health services, 27,000, professional and business services, 13,000, and financial activities, 10,000.
The tech skill that’s in high demand this month is Database Administrators with 111,381 job postings. Career Builder reports an estimated 25,222 candidates are actively seeking jobs in this area.
