January Hiring Report
The January Monthly Hiring Report has arrived. We open the new year with 148,000 jobs added, according to the January U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics report. Unemployment is slightly lower at 4.1% versus last month’s report. Most of the job gains were in construction, 30,000, leisure and hospitality, 29,000, and education and health services, 28,000. Job losses were mainly in Retail trade, – (20,000) and utilities, – (1,000).
The tech skill of the month is Network Operations Center (NOC) with 243,982 job postings. Career Builder reports an estimated 68,158 candidates who are actively seeking an opportunity in this area.
