Arianne Smith praised for always getting the job done!

Arianne Smith interviewed and successfully landed a role with one of our health services clients in 2019 as a tech delivery coordinator. Her story is unique because although she does not have an IT background, she has a winning personality and a “go-getter” attitude that make her an ideal candidate for our client.  She is also a US Army veteran. Per our client, “Arianne has been a wonderful surprise addition to our Infrastructure Delivery Planning Team here at our company. She picks up the processes easily, is extremely organized, and was immediately accepted by our entire team with her winning personality! Please consider her as one of your rock star contractors!”

Because of Arianne’s excellent work with our client, we are ecstatic to recognize her as one of our Top Performers in our Consultant Spotlight program. This program is designed to not only recognize her achievements but also to allow her to share more about her journey into this new world of IT.

Q&A with Arianne Smith

Arianne shares how she fell into the tech world and what she enjoys the most about her delivery coordinator role.

D: Arianne, you have made quite an impression with our client. We appreciate all of your great support. Also, thank you for serving our country! Please share with us how you landed in the field of technology?

AS: This is actually a unique story I think. I was finishing up my MBA in Project Management at a smaller school and went to a meeting about graduation and sat next to a female who was a stranger at the time. I also did not have any classes with her. We chatted for about 20 minutes and exchanged names. She clearly remembered me and I made an impression on her. I say this because a year later she had an opening at her company for a project management position at an IT company. I was heading back over to Afghanistan, so I respectfully declined. I did not remember her by the way. I returned home and obtained a contract position and she contacted me again for the same opportunity which I declined as I had a current position. Another year goes by, she called again and I was available and I got an interview. She interviewed me as well and she looked familiar, but I couldn’t place her. I got moved to the second round to meet with the senior director. The director didn’t want to hire me because I didn’t have any experience in IT, but the woman I had a 20-minute conversation with years ago and called me three (3) times for this position over the years stood up for me and said, “I know she doesn’t have any IT experience, but she has great personality that will fit within our team and I can teach her the IT stuff. You can’t teach someone personality.” I was hired and that was how I fell into the IT realm. The woman and I became friends too.

D: What do you enjoy the most about your current role?

AS: I enjoy working in a team environment with very supportive senior management. The team works together to ensure project goals and objectives are met and portrayed effectively. This job has not only allowed me to grow as an individual but as a project manager as well.

D: What is one fun fact about you?

AS: In high school I was an Olympic Weightlifting Champion at State and won first place. I also am very excited to announce that I have officially medically retired from the Military December 5, 2019 after completing four (4) tours overseas. I served 16 years 3 months 7 days with the Minnesota National Guard.

D: What is your favorite motivational quote?

AS: “The Golden Rule – Do unto others as you want them to do unto you.” This is a classic quote and fits in every aspect of life and I try to live by it every day, because it’s the right thing to do.

D:  Share one statement about your experience with DIVERSANT.

AS: The DIVERSANT team is extremely helpful and pleasant to work with. They always check in with me to make sure that I am comfortable with my responsibilities within my role and follow back up with questions that I may come have.

Arianne, thank you for participating in this interview and for being an asset to our team. Special thanks also to Drew Fernholz, director of strategic accounts, for nominating Arianne for our Consultant Spotlight Program.
