Q&A with Diane Steiner

Diane shares what led her to pursue a career in IT.

D: Diane, we are honored to you on our team as an IT consultant. You’ve been here for about six months and have certainly set the bar high with our client. Thank you! Please share how you decided to enter the field of information technology?

DS: I’ve been involved in technology since 1980 with my first job out of college as a COBOL programmer. Since then, I’ve done a bit of everything in IT – analysis/ systems design, network support, desktop support, project management of systems development, and training. I even opened up a computer support/ training company for a while! I took a break for 15 years to teach middle school students math and language arts. Even then, I never let go of technology. I integrated technology into all of my classes and served as the system administrator for my school. I set up and administered Google Apps for Education (all facets, including email), student/class scheduling programs, and several grading systems. During those 15 years, I completed a Master of Science in Educational Technology. When that phase of my career came to a close, it was great to roll back into technology as a business analyst with Diversant!

D: How do your spend your time off the clock?

DS: Around the house – gardening , carpentry , and cooking (I love making things!). I love to travel with my husband and enjoy walking and hiking. I also like to sing. Spending time with my husband, son, granddaughter, and our many pets rounds out my life perfectly.

D: What is your favorite motivational quote?

DS:  “A job worth doing, is a job worth doing well.” My dad taught me from an early age that if I was going to do something, I needed to give it my all. I look for jobs that are worthwhile, then give it everything I’ve got. I think I’ve done well with this adage!

D:  Share one statement regarding your experience with DIVERSANT.

DS: It’s been a pleasure working for DIVERSANT. Although I’ve only been with the company since December, everyone has been supportive and encouraging as I’ve stepped back into IT from teaching. It’s like I never left the field!

Please join us in wishing Diane Steiner continued success ahead. Her excellent work is recognized and appreciated by DIVERSANT and our client.  A special thanks to Nicole Cicero, our senior business development director, for sharing this great feedback regarding Diane’s outstanding work.
