Q&A with Rob Gangasarran

In the interview summary below, Rob discusses how he found himself in the IT industry and what he enjoys most about his current role.

D: What made you want to pursue a career in information technology?

RG: With a master’s degree in psychology, I attempted to be a clinical therapist. But patients are mostly receptive to medication, not talk therapy. So, I decided to fix computers, no meds needed. My mentor told me to take on many different roles until I find the best one for me… Automation, DevOps, Agile Coaching seem to be the best fit for me. These specialized areas allow me to use my analytical skills, as well as my coding knowledge.

D: What do you enjoy the most about your current role?

RG: I enjoy helping a team or client realize their potential by implementing improved processes, upskilling people, and using innovative technology.

D: What is one fun fact about yourself?

RG: I use to be a flight attendant… “coffee, tea, or scotch?”

D: What is your favorite motivational quote, and why?

RG: “Multitasking is merely the opportunity to screw up more than one thing at a time.” – Steve Uzzell

It’s the anti-pattern to multitasking.

D: Share one statement about your experience at DIVERSANT.

RG: I have received great support from leadership. The leaders are open to exploring ideas for client initiatives.
